Get ‘er Done

“A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, and that’s that.”  I heard that phrase a lot from my mom and grandma growing up. I didn’t think too much of it, just thought it was one of those funny sayings. Little Me took off with it and used it how I saw fit. Got caught sneaking a sweet treat with grandma before dinner? Say it with me now…

What I didn’t realize, and had no way of knowing at the time, was how much that would come into play for Future Me.

Even before this little bitty business was a thing, there were things that needed tackling. Pest issues, home projects, builds to create. Some were more pleasant than others. But they got done in the end. I mean, I groaned about most of them. But they got done.

I was talking with someone recently and we were discussing the mowing we needed to do.

“You mow your own yard?” They seemed amazed at this fact. I was amused that there was any other option. The work needs done, and you won’t find me wasting good yarn money to pay someone else to do it.

Now, there is never shame in asking for help or admitting when you’re in over your head. But don’t let a little dirt scare you away. Do the thing. Try it on your own. You just might find how capable you are. I now leave you with the wise words of the great Daniel Lawrence Whitney:

“Git-R-Done.”
