Crafters are a funny breed. We accumulate supplies, hoard ideas for later use. Trinkets and tools fill up our space, partially-finished projects are scattered hither and thither. Typically, a nice, clean, organized work space generally inspires creativity.
A clear space, and clear mind. Room to let the ideas flow and for art to happen. Sounds like a beautiful dream.
Yeah, that’s not my work space.
I try, I do. Especially now that glass is in the mix of my mediums. That is not something you want to be careless with. As I grow with this craft and add more tools to my set-up, I’m trying to find more and better ways to store things. I tend to prefer things nearby or where I can see them (object permanence is a funny thing).
New tools mean new things to do. Bettering the way you do things. I’ve got tools sitting on my porch right now as I type this. Needle-nose pliers for the finer things and fence cutters for the tougher ones. I try to be creative with what I buy. If I’m going to spend money on it, it better be useful in a number of ways. Now, where are these going to go? Well, we don’t have to talk about that…
Messes are a funny thing to me. It seems as soon as you get it all nice and organized, you turn around and boom – clutter. But hey, another project is finished! Rest assured, if you own something I made, there was likely a mess behind the making of it.
Maybe, I’ll add tags to my work. “Made with love and a little chaos.”
